Chung Paces Ducks In Opening Round
04/06/26 | Women's Golf
NAPA, Calif. – The Oregon women's golf team is in fourth place following the opening round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown on Monday, with junior Darae Chung leading the way for the Ducks on day one at Silverado Country Club and Resort.
The No. 5 Ducks finished the first 18 holes with a 4-over 292, paced by a 1-under 71 by Chung. No. 2 USC leads the field at 11 under and is followed by Eastern Michigan (-4) and Cincinnati (+1).
How it Happened: Chung was 1 over after back-to-back bogeys on holes 4-5, but she was mistake-free the rest of the way. The junior made birdie at No. 9 to go into the turn at even par, and then added her third birdie of the day at No. 16 to get under par.
Chung carded her eighth par-or-better round of the season and will enter Tuesday's second round four strokes behind USC's Catherine Park (-5) for the individual lead.
Redshirt senior Yvonne Vinceri put together a strong round with an even-par 72, but it didn't count towards the team score as she is competing as an individual this week. Vinceri made six total birdies, including four while shooting 3 under on the back nine.
Freshman Shyla Singh made three birdies en route to a 1-over 73, including shooting 1 under on the back nine. Sophomores Tong An and Annika Ishiyama rounded out the counting scores with 2-over 74s.
