Ducks Knock Off Samford, 5-2

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's tennis team (5-1) defeated Samford on Friday night at the Student Tennis Center, 5-2, after winning the doubles point and four of six singles matches.
Oregon's pair of freshman, Jose' Izquierdo and Ayrton Wibowo, have continued their strong play in 2009 and both improved their singles duals record to 5-1. Izquierdo used his powerful serve to keep Samford's Carl Abalos off balance and was victorious 6-1, 6-1. Wibowo took the first set of his match against Kelwin DeWet 6-3 and then skunked his opponent 6-0 in the second set. Wibowo also won his doubles match with teammate Mike Myrhed 8-1.
Myrhed's day didn't end as well as it started as the Oregon senior was forced to withdraw from his singles match after the first set due to injury.
