Rain Washes Out Final Round at MacKenzie Invitational; Ducks Finish Second

FAIRFAX, Calif. ? Rain and wind washed out the final round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, shortening the tournament to two rounds and giving Oregon a second-place finish.
The second round was completed before the rains came Monday night.
California won the event at 23-under 545, with Oregon five strokes back at 18-under 550. Colorado was third at 555, No. 8 Oregon State was fourth at 556, Fresno State was fifth at 557 and San Diego State was sixth at 559. No. 21 Colorado State was tied for ninth with New Mexico at 568. Oregon's score included an opening round 17-under 267.
Andrew Vijarro had rounds of 66-69 to lead Oregon to tie for third at 7-under 135. It was the best career finish for the sophomore from Bend, Ore., who set a career low with his 66 in the first round.
Junior Isaiah Telles tied for eighth at 137 after rounds of 68-69 and sophomore Daniel Miernicki tied for 13th at 4-under 138. Miernicki recorded a hole-in-one on the eighth hole of his second round Monday.
Stephen Hale of California shot a tournament low 64 in Monday's second round to win the individual title at 10-under 132.
