Ducks Three Back at Del Walker as Darkness Sets In

LONG BEACH, Calif. ? Andrew Vijarro and Eugene Wong were tied for seventh at 4-under to lead No. 19 Oregon to second place after the first day of competition at the Del Walker Intercollegiate.
Play was suspended Thursday due to darkness before the second round could be completed and Oregon trailed Colorado State by three strokes when the round was halted. The Rams were at 12-under and Oregon was at 9-under. Saint Mary's, at 8-under, was the only other team under par.
Vijarro and Wong were tied for seventh. Vijarro, a sophomore from Bend., Ore., shot a 2-under 68 in the opening round and was 2-under through 15 holes in round two. Wong, a sophomore from North Vancouver, B.C., opened with a 69 and was 3-under through 15 holes in his second round.
Daniel Cone of Saint Mary's stood at 10-under as the individual overnight leader.
Four Ducks were able to complete two rounds on Thursday.
Junior Sean Maekawa was tied for 18th at 1-under 139 following rounds of 71-68. Sophomore Daniel Miernicki was tied for 23rd at even par 140. He was minus-3 in the morning round and carded a 73 Thursday afternoon. Sophomore John Paton was tied for 39th at 2-over 142 and junior Isaiah Telles was tied for 46th at 143.
The second round will be completed Friday morning prior to the final round.
