Oregon - UC Davis postgame quotes
11/15/09 | Men's Basketball
Oregon 95, UC Davis 64
Nov. 14, 2009 - Eugene, Ore.
Ernie Kent - Head Coach
On today's performance: “I was really happy to play UC-Davis today because they play such a different way. It's a great teaching moment for us, going up against a zone like that, to go over tape with our guys and show what they did and didn't do well.”
On the group: “They're a very coachable group. They listen and are able to make adjustments on offense.”
“We've really done a good job of educating these guys on attacking the glass and they're going out and getting those boards.”
On Malcom Armstead: “Malcom looks relaxed, and it makes me relaxed. You can see how he's starting to build that Aaron Brooks, TP connection.”
On Mike Dunigan: “Mike keeps getting better and better. The best thing is his energy level. You remember last year we'd have to take him out of games but this year he has his legs from running hard all the time in practice. The good thing for Oregon is he has some things he can improve; the bad thing for Oregon is when he does he's going to have a lot of people knocking on his door.”
On the third game of the BTI: “It's going to be a battle with us and Colorado State.”
Malcom Armstead - So. G
On His Comfort Level:“It feels good. Every game we have to come out and capitalize on something new and grow as a team.”
On the how they played: “We played well. A little too passive on offense, missed some open gaps in the zone. Got to communicate better on D.”
“They tried to slow us down with the zone, it didn't frustrate us, but they did go back to man to man and we were able to run a little more.”
Tajuan Porter - Sr., G
On the record: “I wasn't paying attention. Coach grabbed me and threw me out there and I had no idea what it was for. I'm glad it's over so we can move on as a team in this season.”
“I'm very excited. It's a great accomplishment. There was a lot of pressure and a lot of talk about it. I knew I would get it but I'm ready to move on. It's my senior year and I just want to win and go out on a good note.”
On playing with Malcolm: “He's a great point guard. He knows the game and can find a lot of players. He missed out on a lot of assists tonight because of some missed shots and lay ups but he opened the game especially for me.”
On defensive intensity: “We bring that every day. Some days the ball is not going to be going in, so our defensive intensity is what we have.”
