Miernicki Ties for 20th at All-American Golf Classic

EL PASO, Texas ? Oregon's Daniel Miernicki shot a 3-over 74 in the final round of the Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic to tie for 20th Tuesday at the par-71, 6,842-yard El Paso Country Club. The elite tournament featured the top 32 collegiate golfers returning from the 2008-09 season.
Miernicki, a sophomore from Santee, Calif., had back to back round of 71 on Monday, but got off to a slow start Tuesday with three bogeys on his first four holes. He go a shot back with a birdie on his fifth hole of the day, but found trouble again with bogeys on No. 16, No. 2 and No. 5 to fall to plus-5 on the day.
But then Miernicki turned his round around with an eagle on his final hole of the day, the 534-yard par-5 ninth.
He started his final round on the back nine.
Hunter Hamrick of Alabama and Morgan Hoffman of Oklahoma State finished tied at 11-under 202 after 54 holes. Hamrick then won title on the first playoff hole.
