Ducks Surge to Lead at Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. ? All five Oregon golfers shot sub-par rounds as the Ducks surged to the lead after 36 holes at the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational, played Tuesday at the par-71, 6,757-yard Brookside Country Club.
Eugene Wong had a 5-under 66 in the second round and was in second place individually at 12-under 130. The sophomore from North Vancouver, B.C., had four consecutive birdies for the second day in a row, playing holes four through seven in 4-under par. He also birdied No. 16 and No. 18 with a bogey coming on No. 9.
Wong was three shots back of UC Davis' Tyler Rabler, who had a 63 Tuesday, for the tournament lead at 127.
The Ducks will take a one-shot lead into Wednesday's final round. Oregon was at 23-under 545 following Tuesday's 272. UC Davis was next at 546, followed by Fresno State at 554, Saint Mary's at 556 and Denver at 557.
Sophomore Andrew Vijarro had a 67 for Oregon and was tied for sixth at 6-under 136. Sophomore John Paton and junior Sean Maekawa each shot 1-under 70s. Paton was tied for 14th at 139, while Maekawa was tied for 22nd at 141.
Sophomore Daniel Miernicki rebounded from an opening round 73 to shoot a 69 on Tuesday and was tied for 25th at even-par 142.
