
Ducks Defeat Wichita State to Snap Losing Streak

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Oregon men's tennis team snapped a three-match losing streak in decisive fashion on Sunday morning, defeating Wichita State 5-2 at the University of Arkansas' Dills Indoor Stadium.
Oregon improves to 6-4 on the season with its first win of the year outside of Eugene while Wichita State falls to 0-4.
Marcos Verdasco grabbed his fourth win of the season at No. 1 singles in duals play by defeating Vlad Marinescu 6-2, 7-5 and combined to win at No. 1 doubles with Alexander Cornelissen, 8-3. The pair have now tallied a 6-4 duals record and a 9-5 mark overall this season.
Oregon's pair of standout freshmen rebounded from losses to the host Razorbacks on Friday night with straight set victories versus the Shockers. Jose' Izquierdo improved to a team best 8-2 on the season with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against WSU's Jonathan Obrist. Ayrton Wibowo grabbed his seventh win of the season in duals singles play with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Michal Zawadzki.
The Ducks will be back in action next weekend with a set of road matches in Seattle against Washington and Fresno State.
