Postgame Quotes
Head Coach George Horton
On the win:
“The players were jumping at me after the game. Everyone was so excited about the win at home. I really want to thank everyone, who made it possible for baseball to be back at the University of Oregon. Today, each inning was a new challenge for us. It was a great way to win. “
On the tactic:
“Whenever I take someone in or out, it is not a personal decision. It is for the good of the team. We have a long season ahead of us and we still need to learn a lot.”
On Fresno State:
“Fresno State did a good job of keeping us out of balance. As you can tell they are scary, strong, very physical and fast. They pitch well. It is a very experienced team.”
On Oregon:
“I liked our pitching and defense. We made a few freshman mistakes today, but this is a learning process. We'll keep working hard every day and the goal is to play our best. Then, I believe we can beat anyone. I will be probably more nervous when we play the teams we are supposed to beat, because we are such a young team. Emotions are really strong on the field. The players need to learn how to control them and make mature decisions.”
On the win:
“It feels awesome to win at home. I was really excited when my number was called. Simply ? a great day and a great game. I took a deep breath and stayed with my plan until the end. It worked and I am so happy.”
On Oregon baseball:
“Last night we had a dinner and I met many former players. It was a huge motivation to play in front of them today at the PK Park.”
On his play:
“Since about the fifth inning, the coach told me to keep my legs loose. After the eighth, he said I was going to be the next one to play. I was thrilled and it really feels great to be a Duck.”
#5 Jett Hart
On the win:
“It was awesome. You could just feel the enthusiasm around us. We got this first game out of the way. It's very exciting. The key is to relax, play a good baseball, and have fun with it!”
