Little Paces No. 35 Oregon in New Mexico Golf Opener

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Junior Kendra Little led the Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational individual leaderboard Saturday, while the No. 35 University of Oregon women's golf team stood in fifth place in the 30th annual event hosted on the University of New Mexico Championship course.
The Eugene, Ore., native Little (73-68-141) owned a one-stroke advantage over New Mexico's Jodi Ewart (second, 69-71-140), while San Diego State's Christine Wong followed in third place (69-72-141).
Little's 5-under second round Saturday tied the second-best score in school history, and was only two off former teammate's Cathryn Bristow school record 7-under 65 from 2008.
UO's other entries included sophomore Ashley Edwards (18th-t, 74-73-147), senior Kate Hildahl (45th-t, 76-76-152), freshman Cheyenne Hickle (45th-t, 76-76-152) and junior Erica Omlid (77-78-155).
In the team standings, the Ducks carded a a 1-over 590 (297-293), and trailed No. 14 Pepperdine (first, 288-287-575), No. 22 New Mexico (second, 294-286-580), No. 31 TCU (third, 291-291-582) and No. 33 UNLV (fourth, 291-292-583).
Teams trailing the Ducks included No. 59 Northwestern (sixth, 297-294-591), No. 55 Indiana (seventh, 297-296-593), UC Davis (eighth, 302-295-597), No. 30 UC Irvine (ninth, 304-294-598), No. 79 San Diego State (10th, 300-301-601), No. 16 Arkansas (11th, 300-303-603), No. 47 Colorado (12th-t, 310-296-606), No. 36 Texas A&M (12th-t, 303-303-606), No. 34 San Francisco (12th-t, 295-311-606), No. 61 Colorado State (15th, 304-304-608), No. 60 Oklahoma (16th-t, 306-303-609), UTEP (16th-t, 308-301-609) and Wyoming (18th, 306-312-618).
