TS&G Shines in Final Tune-up
01/17/10 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
TACOMA, Wash. - The Oregon stunts and gymnastics team scored a 176 out of a possible 200 to take top honors at the Pac-West Apple Cup. The Ducks outscored every other team in the multi-divisional competition.
"We did very well," said head coach Felecia Mulkey. "We bobbled one part of our pyramid which we weren't happy with but overall we competed well and very hard. Our team also came together and bonded this weekend and when we took the floor today we were a different squad from last week and that was very exciting as our season is finally approaching."
Mulkey was happy with how a few individuals performed during the competition as well.
"Lacy Allen stepped into our pyramid late last week due to an injury and her portion of the pyramid today was flawless," Mulkey said. "Noelle Bali was also fantastic after taking over a starting position this week in practice."
The Pac-West Apple Cup was the Ducks final tune-up before competing in the first-ever National Competitive Stunts and Tumbling Association sanctioned collegiate meet on February 5, 2010 at Kennesaw State University. The NCSTA event will feature the newly developed stunts and tumbling meet format and scoring system.
Oregon's first home meet will be on Feb. 21 and will be conducted in the NCSTA format.
