JACOB STRONG IN STARTING ROLE FOR UO
Sophomore forward Jeremy Jacob averaged a team-best 15.0 points per game as a starter in the Ducks' wins last week. The 6-9, Baton Rouge, La., native played all but 13 minutes (of a possible 85) in making his third an fourth career starts at Oregon.
Jacob scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in 37 minutes of work in the overtime win over the Bruins. He followed that up with a team-high 19 points (9-of-11 on free throws) in UO's 10-point defeat of the Trojans.
The Ducks are 4-0 in the games Jacob has started (Montana State, Mississippi Valley State, UCLA, USC), and he's averaging a team-high 12.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in those outings. Jacob hit 18-of-37 on field goals (48.6 percent) while making 15-of-20 free throws (75.0 percent), and was second on the team in playing 30.0 minutes per game in that stretch.
LOOKING AHEAD AT THE SCHEDULE
The Ducks will remain on the road next week with games at Arizona and Arizona State. UO's match-up with the Wildcats is slated for 7:30 p.m. (PST) Thursday in a game televised nationally by Fox Sports Net. The Ducks-Sun Devils contest will be played Saturday at 3 p.m. (PST) and the game will be telecast by the Oregon Sports Network on Comcast SportsNet Northwest as well as on Fox Sports Arizona. The Ducks will return home to host Stanford and California the week of Feb. 18-20.
PORTER BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD, PAC-10 RECORDS IN REACH
In the first half of Oregon's 95-64 home win over UC Davis Saturday, Nov. 14, senior guard Tajuan Porter set a new school record for career 3-pointers. He passed Orlando Williams (1991-95) who held the previous mark with 282 made 3-pointers in 112 games. Porter has made 322 in 115 games played (322-of-829, .388).
Porter, currently third in Pac-10 Conference history, needs 21 more 3-pointers to break the league record held by Arizona's Salim Stoudamire who made 342 career 3-pointers from 2002-05. Up next: Arizona State's Stevin Smith (323, 1991-94). Porter is in reach of the Pac-10's 3-point field goals attempted record also held by Smith, who took 891 career 3-pointers from 1991-94.
PORTER NOW SIXTH IN CAREER SCORING AT UO
Senior guard Tajuan Porter recently took over sixth place in career scoring at UO (1,647 points in 115 games). In last Saturday's win over USC, he passed a trio of former Ducks - Stan Love, Fred Jones and Malik Hairston - who are now in a three-way tie for seventh place with 1,644 points. Ron Lee (1972-76) is UO's all-time leading scorer, recording 2,085 points in 112 career games. If Porter continues to score at his 14.3 ppg clip, he will be on pace to move into fifth place in school history (behind Lee, Luke Jackson, Anthony Taylor and Greg Ballard).
Last season Porter became the 29th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark. In fact, Porter has now scored 1,080 career points in Pac-10 games alone (63 games played, 17.1 ppg). He reached the original 1,000-point milestone in the Ducks 84-77 road win over UC Irvine in November of 2008. He is the 10th player overall and the fifth player in the last four seasons (Aaron Brooks, Malik Hairston, Bryce Taylor, Maarty Leunen) to eclipse the figure under Ernie Kent's direction.
SOPHOMORE DUO MAKING MARK ON SINGLE-SEASON CHARTS
Sophomore center Michael Dunigan's 28 blocks this season ties him for 10th all-time for a single-season total at UO (tying his own mark with 28 blocks a year ago). Dunigan is on pace to record 41 blocks this year which would put him in a tie for second place for rejections in a season. In addition, if Dunigan continues to shoot 55.1 percent from the floor, he will end up no worse than seventh place on UO's single-season field goal percentage list.
Sophomore guard Malcolm Armstead is on track to finish in the top 10 for single-season steals. Armstead has 46 steals in 21 games, which has him at 2.2 steals per game. He is on pace to record approximately 69 steals, which would be a new single-season school record (current leaders: Terrell Brandon, Fred Jones and Luke Ridnour with 63).
Armstead has 91 assists (to just 48 turnovers) in 21 games this year, good for 4.3 assists per night. He is projected to finish with approximately 140 assists this year which put him just outside the top 10 (No. 10 – Chris Harper and Kenya Wilkins with 142). Armstead had 12 assists against UCLA, tying him for the most by a Pac-10 player this season (and the most of any player in a Pac-10 game).
DUCKS RANK HIGHLY WITH PAC-10 LEADERS
Sophomore guard Malcolm Armstead is second in the league in steals (2.2 spg), third in assist to turnover ratio (1.9) and fifth in assists (4.3 apg). Sophomore center Michael Dunigan ranks fourth in the conference in blocked shots (1.5 bpg), while ranking sixth in field goal percentage (.551, 65-of-118). Senior guard Tajuan Porter's 2.5 made 3-pointers per game ranks him third amongst conference performers. Freshman forward E.J. Singler is hitting 82.9 percent of his free throws (34-of-41) which would have him in sixth, but he does not have the minimum number of attempts to qualify.
PORTER 10TH IN FIELD GOALS MADE, 11TH IN STEALS
Senior guard Tajuan Porter ranks 10th in school history with 533 career field goals made (533-of-1354, .394). He recently passed Charlie Warren who made 503 field goals in 80 career games. Next up on the list: No. 9 Fred Jones (1998-02) who made 554 baskets in 125 games. Porter (4.7 FG/g) is projected to finish eighth all-time with 592.
Porter needs just one more steal to jump into Oregon's top 10 in that statistical category, now with 90 steals in 115 career games. Next on the list: No. 10 Felton Sealey (1977-81) who had 91 steals in 117 games. Porter has averaged 0.8 steals per game, and is projected to finish with 101 steals - good for ninth place at UO.
DUNIGAN RANKS 10TH IN CAREER BLOCKS AT OREGON
Sophomore center Michael Dunigan is alone in 10th place in school history for blocked shots. The 6-10 post from Chicago, Ill., has 56 blocks in just 48 career games. With a 1.1 blocks per game average, Dunigan is on pace (with an assumed 72 games remaining) to become the all-time leader in that category with a projected total of 133. Blair Rasmussen (1981-85) ranks first with 116 blocks in 114 career games.
DUCKS CONTINUE REBOUNDING ADVANTAGE
Oregon has a 10-2 record this season when out-rebounding opponents (1-6 when out-rebounded, 1-1 with even number of rebounds). The Ducks have out-rebounded their opponent and lost on two occasions (at Missouri, UO held a 43-35 rebounding advantage; vs. Arizona State with a 36-27 edge). The Ducks have a 281-211 edge in offensive rebounds through 21 games, with that leading to the UO's 278-217 advantage over opponents in second-chance points this season.
KENT UO'S ALL-TIME WINNINGEST COACH
Head coach Ernie Kent became Oregon's all-time wins leader with the Ducks' 84-77 road win over UC Irvine on Dec. 21, 2008. Kent, now with 231 career victories at UO, moved by Basketball Hall of Famer Howard Hobson who boasted an 11-year mark of 212-124. Kent has a career record of 231-166 in his 13th season with the Ducks.

DUCKS' BOUNCE-BACK HISTORY
Oregon has produced a winning record following four of the program's 20-loss seasons: 15-10 in 1922-23 (7-24 in 1921-22), 13-11 in 1957-58 (4-21 in 1956-57), 16-10 in 1972-73 (6-20 in 1971-72) and 15-14 in 1989-90 (8-21 in 1988-89). It didn't happen in 1992-93 (10-20 after going 6-21 in 1991-92) and 1993-94 (10-17 after going 10-20 in 1992-93).
Additionally, the only three Ernie Kent teams to finish without a winning record also bounced back. A record of 13-14 in 1997-98 turned into 19-13 and a trip to the NIT Final Four in 1998-99. A mark of 14-14 in 2000-01 turned into 26-9, a Pac-10 championship and the NCAA Elite Eight in 2001-02. The Ducks' 15-18 record in 2005-06 turned into 29-8, a Pac-10 Tournament championship and another NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2006-07 (GW, 2009).
