
No. 31 Ducks in Fifth in Longhorn Second Round

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 31 University of Oregon women's golf team continued to rank top five in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational Saturday, and stood fifth in the second round against the field that featured 14 top-50 ranked teams.
Oregon combined on a 14-over 302 second round Saturday for a 601 overall score (299-302) with one round remaining Sunday.
No. 1 UCLA (295-290-585) continued to lead the event by one stroke, as No. 7 Arizona moved into second place (301-285-586). Other teams in the top five ahead of UO included No. 20 Texas A&M (third, 299-290-589) and No. 23 TCU (fourth, 298-301-599).
Three teams trailed in a tie for sixth place - No. 34 Texas (296-306-602), No. 12 Stanford (302-300-602) and No. 17 Vanderbilt (300-302-602).
The remaining teams in the field included No. 22 New Mexico (ninth, 305-300-605), No. 40 Notre Dame (10th, 303-310-613), No. 39 Northwestern (11th, 301-314-615), No. 41 Chattanooga (12th, 315-301-616), No. 30 Washington (13th, 305-315-620), No. 24 UC Davis (14th, 311-313-624), a Texas 'B' team (15th, 310-316-626), No. 66 Oklahoma (16th, 313-317-630) and No. 42 Tulsa (17th, 317-319-636).
For the Ducks, freshman Cheyenne Hickle shot a one-over 73 for the second straight round and improved a position in the overall rankings into a tie for sixth place (73-73-146). The Gilbert, Ariz., native topped UO for the fourth time in her 18th collegiate round, and Saturday also marked her fourth score of 73 or better this season.
Glancing at her scorecard Saturday, she scored birdies on the par-4 third and 10th holes and par-3 16th holes. She added par scores on 11 holes (#1, 5-7, 9, 12-15, 17-18), and had four bogeys (#2, 4, 8, 11).
Duck juniors Kendra Little (77-74-151) and Erica Omlid (76-75-151) improved 16 and seven positions, respectively, and were tied for 25th place. Sophomore Ashley Edwards followed in 45th place (73-82-155), and senior Felicia Eastick (57th, 77-80-157) accounted for UO's other second-round score.
On the overall individual leaderboard, Sarah Zwartynski of Texas A&M continued to lead (70-72-142), and UCLA's Stephanie Kono (71-71-142) improved two spots to tie her atop the field. Marina Alex of Vanderbilt (73-70-143) and Kristina Wong of Stanford (71-72-143) followed in a tie for third place.
