Omlid Paces No. 28 Ducks in NCAA Championships Third Round

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Junior Erica Omlid led the University of Oregon women's golf team in NCAA Championships Third Round action hosted Thursday by the Country Club of Landfall.
The Springfield, Ore., native shot a three-over 75 and topped the team for the third time in 2009-10, and fifth time in her career.
She opened the day with an even 36 on the backside after she tee'd off on the 10th hole, thanks to seven par scores (holes #11-17), a birdie on the par-5 18th, and a bogey on the par-4 10th.
In the second half of her round, she started with two par scores (#1, 3) and three bogeys (#2, 4-5), then shot par the final four holes (#6-9).
The rest of the UO lineup was one stroke apart as freshman Cheyenne Hickle and sophomore Ashley Edwards each shot a 79, and junior Kendra Little and senior Kate Hildahl both shot an 80.
In the overall standings, Hickle again led UO (41st-tie, 71-73-79-223), and was followed by Edwards (106th, 73-80-79-232), Omlid (107th-t, 80-78-75-233), Little (114th-t, 79-78-80-237) and Hildahl (120th-t, 79-82-80-241).
Team-wise, No. 28 Oregon remained in 24th place (302-309-313-924) in its first NCAA appearance since 2000 and seventh in school history.
In the overall standings, No. 8 Purdue combined on an 8-under 280 round Thursday to jump two spots into the lead (first, 284-294-280-858), and stood seven strokes ahead of former leader and No. 4 USC (second, 282-288-295-865).
No. 5 Arizona State (288-293-290-871) and No. 7 Alabama (289-288-294-871) followed in a tie for third place, four strokes ahead of No. 6 Arizona (fifth, 296-286-293-875).
Other teams in the top 10 included No. 16 Vanderbilt (sixth, 296-292-291-879), No. 1 UCLA (seventh, 288-292-302-882), No. 3 Auburn (eighth, 293-296-295-884), No. 23 Florida State (ninth-tie, 289-302-294-885), No. 24 Texas A&M (ninth-tie, 297-302-286-885) and No. 25 Oklahoma State (ninth-tie, 295-294-296-885).
Arizona State freshman Jennifer Johnson continued to lead the overall field (67-70-70-207), and stood one stroke ahead of Oklahoma State's Caroline Hedwall (second, 70-70-68-208) who shot shot the day's best round. Purdue's Maude-Aimee LeBlanc (67-73-70-210) and USC's Jennifer Song (67-71-72-210) followed in a tie for third place.
