
No. 1 Ducks One Round From NCAAs

SANTEE, Calif. -- The top-ranked University of Oregon men's golf team remained in first place, shedding the three teams they began the day tied with at the NCAA Southwest Regional, shooting 2-over 290 in the second round at Carlton Oaks Golf Club.
The Ducks, the event's No. 1 seed, are 8-over and hold a two-stroke lead over fellow Pac-10 side California with 18 holes to play.
Daniel Miernicki continued his strong play, firing a 3-under 69 to move into a second-place tie. A native of Santee, Miernicki trails Nick Delio of Cal State Northridge by one stroke, sitting at 3-under 141.
The Southern Californian's teammates continued to do their part, with Eugene Wong, Isaiah Telles and Jack Dukeminier all bunched in the top 20. Wong is tied for 13th at 3-over 147 after a second-round 73 at the par 72, 7,360-yard course. Telles and Dukeminier are both at 4-over 148 and in a tie for 18th.
Even Andrew Vijarro, who has a pair of 75's through two rounds, remains in decent shape at 6-over, tied for 35th.
Round 3 takes place on Saturday and concludes the regional. The top five teams will advance to the 2010 NCAA Championships, June 1-6, at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
