Desoisa Leads Ducks In Opening Round
04/13/26 | Men's Golf
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Oregon men's golf team is ninth place through the opening round of the 79th Western Intercollegiate after shooting a 10-over 360 on Monday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.Â
Oregon was led by freshman Sebastian Desoisa, who kicked off the week with an even-par 70.
California leads the field after 18 holes at 7 under par and is followed by UNLV (-6) and No. 18 Stanford (-4).Â
How it Happened: The Western Intercollegiate is a 6-count-5 tournament, with each team's lineup fielding six players and the five lowest scores counting to the school's score. Oregon's five counting scorers combined to make an eagle and nine birdies with 13 bogeys, but two triple bogeys and a double bogey ultimately inflated the team's final score for the round.Â
Desoisa continued his impressive freshman campaign with an even-par 70, his 13th par-or-better performance in 24 rounds. He was 2 under across his final 15 holes after starting at 2 over through three, headlined by three birdies in four holes on the back nine.Â
Aiden Krafft and Ramil Saelim were each two strokes back of Desoisa with 2-over 72s, and both Casper Nerpin and Jeffrey Kwak came in with 3-over 73s to round out the counting scores.Â
Nerpin had the highlight of the day with an eagle at the par-5 ninth hole, his fourth eagle of the season and the 11th of his Oregon career. Nerpin was one of just five players in the field to make an eagle in the opening round.Â
