Oregon vs. Stanford Post-Game Quotes
01/28/11 | Women's Basketball
Oregon 56, Stanford 91
January 27, 2011 – Matthew Knight Arena
Head Coach Paul Westhead
On the game:
“This is one game I shouldn't look at the stat sheet; I think we played better than the stats show. We played very hard and aggressive enough to win, but you can't win if you don't make shots. We defended well for a good part of the game. We had good looks, but we just couldn't cash in with shots.”
On playing aggressively:
“Normally I'd say that they (Stanford) beat us inside or we couldn't handle their strength, but I couldn't say that this time, we played very aggressive and good defensively.”
On second chance baskets:
“We weren't getting pushed around or not getting second chance baskets, that only happened in the last 14 minutes of play and our players were spent at that point.”
On playing Stanford:
“I told the team that this is a learning experience team because they (Stanford) are a high quality team.”
On Nia Jackson:
“She did a terrific job. She goes down that line saying, 'get out of my face, here I come.' At point guard she is just terrific and makes great shots, we just need to make shots surrounding here.”
Junior Guard Nia Jackson
Positives from the game:
“I felt that we played hard, and this game showed our team that we have the potential to play well and against really good teams. This game gave us confidence because it showed us what we can do.”
On missing shots during the first half:
“Some shots were good but we weren't making them, which makes you go faster and not take your time. You put more pressure on yourself to make the shot.”
On injured knee:
“I'm holding up fine. On Saturday I'm just going to go out and play hard. Fatigue isn't an issue and my body is doing well.”
