Postgame Quotes

Oregon Head Coach Paul Westhead
On the game...
"In my experience as a coach you have two goals in your first game: Make sure no one gets hurt, and that you win the game. Everything else after that is a bonus or something to work or improve upon."
On Jasmin Holliday...
"I liked the offensive play from Jasmine Holliday today. She had 18 field goal attempts; I think that's the most she's ever taken. When you take a lot of shots, then you're going to get a career high. She knows it is her time. I'm very pleased with her performance tonight and her steadiness."
On things to improve...
"We cannot let anyone get 20 offensive rebounds. We need all five to go after the ball. We have a goal as a team during the game, to shoot as close to 80% from the free throw line; and today we shot 70% today."
On Cal Poly...
"They play with a lot of confidence and look to push the ball and create opportunities on the run, especially the play of Danielle Love tonight. They came to play and played their hearts out."
Forward Jasmin Holliday
On the game...
"For this first game we realized that we have a lot to work on, in order to get better. We need to force more turnovers and need to improve our defensive effort."
On being a senior...
"I want to be a role model for the younger girls, and the girls playing my position. It's my senior year, I show up for every game because it is my last season. It's now or never for me. This is it."
On the freshman (advice for them)...
"The new kids are great. They really fit into the system well. My biggest advice would be to just run because the point guard will find you."
Forward Amanda Johnson
On the game...
"We did not play as well as we wanted to. We won the game, and at the end of the day that is all that matters, but we need to pick up our intensity at both ends of the floor to be successful. We need to not give the other team the opportunity to catch their breath. They did get tired down the stretch, so I was open a lot of the time tonight."
On Cal Poly...
"We did not expect them to push the pace. So that threw us off at the beginning, and then we adjusted."
On the play of Jasmin Holliday...
"Jasmin puts a lot of work into her game and I think you saw today, and it paid off for us."
