Head Coach Paul Westhead
On Amanda (Johnson)...
"Amanda played to exhaustion because some of our injuries, but I'm not using that as an excuse. She has been spectacular with rebounds and scoring. I'm always happy if we win games, we are 3-0, but we have a long way to go."
On the game...
"It's a good sign that Jordan Loera stepped up and made some good shots. It's always good when you have a freshman that is not afraid to shoot. Nia Jackson (knee surgery) will be examined by the doctors. I have no answer as to what is going on. She will be seeing the medical staff to get another opinion. She is just laboring and fighting every step of the way. The whole pace of this system rests with the point guard, but we have exhausted players out there too. We are lucky that we got 75 point,s but that's where Amanda (Johnson) has come in to help us."
On Portland State...
"They shot well even when we defended decent to good. Late in the game they got offensive rebounds on us."
Forward Amanda Johnson
On her shooting...
"I shot really well on Friday night, so I thought they'd just fall, but they didn't really. I was confident in my shot selection, but I only thought I forced two or three shots."
On the game...
"We gave them a chance to recuperate on defense, and catch their breath, which we didn't want to let happen. We didn't give up tonight, we didn't achieve the goals we wanted to for ourselves, but we were about to pull out the win."
On players being tired and hurt...
"We're nearing the end of the term in school and we're getting our bodies acclimated again, but we need to stick it out until we have a break in December."
