Oregon Head Coach Paul Westhead
Opening statement...
"We're one game in for the weekend, now we'll see how we play back to back tomrrow. I tried to get Amanda Johnson and some other players out to rest so they can get some more good minutes tomorrow. Ariel Thomas gave us a good boost, she's an active kid and plays really hard, she was a big help today."
On Megan Carpenter playing a tough game...
"She's being examined by doctors right now, but she still played good after she hit her head on the court. She's a resilient young lady. She plays really hard and aggressively in practice, aggressive play doesn't bother her. We're just trying to ease her into more minutes and not force it."
On Laura Stanulis...
"The more minutes she has played have really helped Laura to make smarter plays."
Guard Jordan Loera
On her confidence since the first game...
"I'm in a lot better spot than I was the first game; I'm getting a better understanding of how my teammates play."
On the four freshmen playing together at the end of the game...
"I think we did an ok job once we found our spots. We were a little quiet out there; we need to keep working on communicating with each other. But in the last couple minutes we picked it up and gelled."
Guard Ariel Thomas
On the game...
"Coach (Westhead) wanted us to stay focused and not get distracted. He caught us laughing on the bench and told us we needed to maintain our focus."
On being back out of the court...
"It felt wonderful to be back out there. I was a little nervous at first, but then I felt good once my first shot went in. I still didn't feel like the greatest, but I went out hard and did what I needed to do."
