Lions Slip Past Ducks, 4-3

The Oregon men's tennis team was unable to recover from a narrow doubles defeat in a tight, 4-3, setback at Loyola Marymount on Thursday.
The Ducks fall to 10-6 in dual play in their final non-conference match of the year.
Oregon and Loyola Marymount split a pair of 8-2 decisions to open doubles play. The Ducks' third pairing of Baptiste Faynot and Jose Izquierdo defeated Daniel Simko and Jack Zapala to move to 5-4 in dual play. The Lions picked up the first point with their top team of Sebastian Bustamante and Alex Wilton outlasting Robin Cambier and Alex Rovello in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5).
UO got singles victories out of Rovello, Duncan MacDonald-Korth and Aaron Clissold . Rovello dispatched Aris Andreasian (6-2, 6-2) in straight sets at the No. 1 spot while MacDonald-Korth and Clissold pulled out three-set victories at No. 5 and 6, respectively. MacDonald-Korth pulled out a first-set tiebreaker to defeat Simko (7-6 [8-6], 3-6, 6-3) and Clissold won the final two sets to down Tom Price (2-6, 6-3, 7-6 [8-6]).
The Ducks were unable to get that critical fourth singles win as Loyola Marymount got staright-set wins out of Nicholas Bjerke (6-1, 6-1 over Cambier), Sebastian Bustamante (6-4, 6-2 over Faynot) and Alex Wilton (7-5, 6-2 over Izquierdo) at the second, third and fourth spots to secure the win.
Oregon returns to the court on Friday when it resumes Pac-10 play against No. 2 USC at 1:30 p.m.
