Kesselring, White Win; Hasay Fast in Mt. SAC 5K

WALNUT, Calif. - Anne Kesselring won the Olympic Development Elite section of the 1,500 meters while Mandy White won the 200 meters and Jordan Hasay ran the second-fastest 5,000 meters in NCAA Division I this season in women's track and field action Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Kesselring, a sophomore from Nurnberg, Germany, won her section in 4:16.55, which was just .3 off her PR. The sophomore from Nurnberg, Germany, held off Arkansas' Staphanie Brown, who finished in 4:17.21. Kesselring's time was the fifth-fastest by a collegian this season.
White captured the 200 meters by running a personal-best 23.59 seconds to edge out Houston's Whitney Harris, who finished in 23.77. The senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., moved up to No. 4 on the Oregon career 200 meters list. White was also the runner-up in her section of the in the 100 meters in a season-best 11.74. That was the fourth-best time overall on Friday.
Competing against a field of professionals and top collegians, Hasay was 11th in 15:37.29, but was second among collegians in a 5,000 meters that was won by Molly Huddle of Saucony in 15:10.63. The sophomore from Arroyo Grande, Calif., not only ran the fourth-best time in school history on Friday, but recorded the fastest 5K by a Duck in 23 years.
Freshman Chizoba Okodogbe was third in her 200 meter heat and fifth overall in a season-best 24.05. In the 400 meters, Okodogbe was third in her heat in a season-best 54.15. That time was the fifth-fastest time overall at Mt. SAC.
Junior Camilla Dencer won her 400 heat in 54.56, her best quarter mile time in more than two years. Sophomore Devin Gosberry took third in her heat in 54.74 in her first 400 meters as a Duck.
Rebecca Rhodes was fourth in her heat of the 100 meter hurdles. The junior from Salem, Ore., ran a legal personal best 14.04.
In the long jump, junior Lauryn Newson leapt a seasonal-best 19-9/6.02m to finish fifth overall.
Freshman Phyllis Francis was sixth in her heat of the 800 meters in a season-best 2:08.82.
Laura Bobek had a 10-foot personal best in the discus. The freshman from Astoria, Ore., went 164-0/49.98m on her fourth attempt.
