ABOUT WASHINGTON
Washintgon (7-19, 0-3) has lost four straight, and like the Ducks, was swept last week on the road as the Huskies opened up Pac-10 play at then 24th-ranked UCLA.
Both the Huskies and the Ducks are struggling at the plate as Washington ranks ninth in the Pac-10 batting .244 followed by UO at .229.
Unlike Oregon, Washington has had trouble on the mound with a 5.05 ERA (9th Pac-10).
Joe Meggs (.346) and Jacob Lamb (.340, 14 RBI) lead Washington at the plate.
PAC-10 OPENERS
For three consecutive seasons, Oregon has dropped its Pac-10 opening series. In 2010, the Ducks dropped their first two conference series before responding to win the next four.
APRIL SHOWERS
In 2010, Oregon went 10-6 in the month of April.
SCHEDULE NOTES
The Ducks have 60 games on the schedule, with 30 of those contests to be played at PK Park.
UO's schedule is daunting with nine series against programs that advanced to the postseason in 2010, including three teams that claimed their respective conference titles.
ARIZONA STATE SERIES RECAP
Oregon was swept last weekend at fifth-ranked Arizona State. The Ducks scored a total of just three runs in three games, falling 5-2, 3-1 and 8-0.
HEALTH UPDATE
Freshman Stefan Sabol returned to the lineup at Arizona State after recovering from a broken bone in his left hand suffered in the Saint Mary's series.
Senior outfielder Marcus Piazzisi broke his right hand during the BYU series and is out 1-2 weeks.
Sophomore left-hander Christian Jones has been diagnosed with alower back injury, and is expected to be out at least one more week.
NOTES ON PITCHERS
Tyler Anderson
Preseason All-American Tyler Anderson earned his first loss last Friday as the Ducks fell 5-2 at No. 5 Arizona State. Anderson surrendered five runs on 10 hits while striking out two in seven innings of work.
For the first time since June 5, 2010 at the Norwich NCAA Regional, Anderson was charged with a loss, and the Las Vegas native's streak of six consecutive quality starts was also ended last Friday.
Anderson (4-1), continues to lead Oregon with a 1.40 ERA.
Oregon's Friday-night starter has struck out 61 batters this season to lead Oregon and rank third in the Pac-10, while his 232 strikeouts are a new Oregon record.
Madison Boer
Oregon junior right-hander Madison Boer (2-1) had a respectable performance on the mound last Saturday, allowing three runs on nine hits in six and 2/3 innings while striking out six and issuing just one walk at fifth-ranked Arizona State. For Boer it was his sixth quality start of the season and his first loss of the year as Oregon's offense couldn't support his outing.
On the year, Boer sports a 2.22 ERA and is holding opposing batters to a .211 clip, ranking 10th in the Pac-10.
Porter Clayton
At just 17-years-old, freshman Porter Clayton graduated from Bonneville High School in December, and joined the Ducks in time for the 2011 season. Oregon's go-to lefty out of the bullpen, Clayton earned his first save on March 11, UO's 4-2 series-clinching victory over BYU as the Idaho Falls native recorded the game's final out. Clayton has made 13 appearances this season.
Ryon Healy
In his first start and just the second appearance of his career on the mound, Ryon Healy impressed for the Ducks.
On March 27, as Oregon prevailed with a 6-1 victory over Wichita State, Healy dealt 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing just one run while striking out five.
Joey Housey
In the March 8, 4-1 loss at Oregon State, right-hander Joey Housey completely shut down the OSU bats over the final three and 2/3 innings, surrendering no hits or walks while striking out seven - including fanning six in a row.
Housey is 2-0 on the year, earning both wins in relief appearances. The Hollywood, Fla., native has a 4.05 ERA in nine appearances and 17 strikeouts.
Christian Jones
Sophomore left-hander Christian Jones missed his first start of the season last Sunday with a lower back injury. He is expected to be out at least one more week.
On the season, Jones is 2-1 on the hill with a 4.67 ERA. The southpaw's 44 strikeouts rank 10th in the Pac-10.
Alex Keudell
Junior right-hander Alex Keudell (3-3) went the distance tossing the second complete game of his career (first 9-inning) in the Ducks' 6-1 victory over San Francisco on March 23.
Keudell made his second weekend start of the season last Sunday, lasting just two and 2/3 innings at No. 5 Arizona State, allowing five runs on six hits.
Keudell sports a 3.77 ERA in five starts and seven appearances in 2011.
Scott McGough
In his last three relief appearances, Oregon right-hander Scott McGough has allowed just one run in nine innings of work. In an appearance against Wichita State and two against No. 5 Arizona State, McGough has surrendered five hits and issued three walks while fanning nine and allowing just one of four inherited runners to score.
His ERA has dropped from 7.15 to 4.43 over his last three appearances for the Ducks.
Kellen Moen
Senior right-hander Kellen Moen leads the bullpen with four saves in 2011. The Juneau, Alaska native earned his fourth after tossing two innings of shutout baseball in relief of Tyler Anderson as the Ducks nursed a 2-1 lead in a win over Wichita State on March 25.
On the season, Moen's four saves tie for second in the Pac-10 as he holds a 1.04 ERA in 17 and 1/3 innings of action, striking out 18 and holding opposing batters to a .121 clip. Moen has allowed just three of his 10 inherited runners to score in 2011.
In his last seven appearances, Moen has tossed 11 and 2/3 shutout innings, allowing four hits and issuing six walks while striking out 12 and earning one win and two saves.
THE STARTING STAFF
Oregon's four starters, Tyler Anderson, Madison Boer, Christian Jones and Alex Keudell have a combined ERA of 2.77 allowing 51 earned runs in 165 and 2/3 innings pitched.

RANKING THE PAC-10
Oregon's pitching staff ranks second in the Pac-10 with 251 strikeouts, while the Ducks 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings rank fifth in the nation.
In addition, Oregon's defense has turned a Pac-10 leading 26 double plays this season.
THRILLERS
In Oregon's 26 games this season, nine have been decided by one run. The Ducks hold a 3-6 record in those contests. Oregon is also 1-2 in extra-inning contests this season.
