The Ducks-Utes contest is slated for 6 p.m. (PT) on Thursday night at Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. UO and CU will meet at Coors Events Center on Saturday at 6 p.m. These are UO's first-ever Pac-12 Conference games against Utah and Colorado.
The Utes lead the all-time series over the Ducks, 8-7. The last time Utah and Oregon played was back on Dec. 3, 2008, resulting in a 95-81 home victory for the Utes. Garrett Sim, then a freshman, recorded a career-high 28 points in that road loss. Oregon's last win over Utah came back on Dec. 8, 2007, a 75-64 victory at the Pape' Jam in Portland, Ore.
Colorado has a 3-2 edge in the all-time series with Oregon. The last time the Ducks played the Buffaloes was back on March 17, 2004, a first round NIT game played at McArthur Court. Oregon's Luke Jackson scored 40 points - including 29 straight in the second half and overtime - to help the Ducks overcome an 18-point deficit en route to a 77-72 win. The Ducks lost 61-59 at Colorado back on Dec. 2, 1983 the last time the two teams played in Boulder. Oregon has never defeated the Buffaloes in Boulder, having lost 71-57 on Dec. 10, 1960, in the only other road game against CU.

TRENDS BROKEN IN RECENT LOSS TO RIVAL OREGON STATE
UO had some trends broken in last week's home loss to Oregon State. UO lost for just the third time at home, moving to 11-3 overall (3-2 in Pac-12 games).
Prior to the OSU game, UO was a perfect 9-0 when scoring 70 or more points in a game. The Ducks had 71 points against the Beavers for their first loss when reaching 70+ points.
Before last Sunday, Oregon was a perfect 11-0 when dishing out more assists than the opponent. The Ducks had a 16-15 edge in assists against OSU but still lost.
Oregon was 12-1 when holding a halftime lead. The Ducks led 28-23 at the break in the home loss to the Beavers. UO was 7-1 when out-rebounding the opponent. Oregon grabbed 44 rebounds (to OSU's 32). The Ducks were 8-0 when recording more blocked shots than the opponent. UO had a season-high 10 blocks against the Beavers (who had zero blocks). Complete updated records breakdown on page 4.
SINGLER IS OREGON'S MR. CONSISTENCY
Junior forward E.J. Singler (bio on page 15) leads the team with 273 total points (13.0 ppg) and has grabbed a team-high 106 total rebounds (5.0 rpg). Singler has taken -- and made -- the most shots of any Duck this season (88-of-193, .456).
Singler ranks third in the Pac-12 in free throw percentage (.888, 71-of-80) and third in school history for career free throw percentage (.863, 226-of-262). As of Jan. 29, Singler ranked 19th nationally in free throw percentage (leader: 92.4 percent, Robby Ptacek, Central Connecticut State).
Singler has reached double figures in scoring in 17 of the 21 games this season. He's scored 10 or more points in 51 of his 92 career games at UO. Singler has also led the Ducks in rebounding on five occasions this season (and 27 times in his career).
He scored a career-high 26 points and added seven rebounds in a recent home win over UCLA. Singler went a career-best 16-of-17 from the free throw line against the Bruins. Singler scored 20 of UO's 60 total points at Washington, a game where he also grabbed a season-best nine boards. Earlier in the season he scored 21 points against SE Missouri State (8-of-10 on FGS).
The 6-6 forward from Medford, Ore., ranks among the Pac-12 active leaders in career statistics: sixth in career points (926) and sixth in rebounds (463).
With a 13.0 points per game average in 2011-12, Singler is on pace to eclipse the 1,000-point mark this season. Singler has 926 points in 92 career games for a 10.1 ppg scoring average. He is looking to become the 31st player in school history to reach the scoring mark.
Singler is one of two Ducks to have started every game this season (joined only by Garrett Sim). In fact, Singler has started the last 66 games for UO dating back to his freshman season. He started all 39 games a year ago and 22-of-32 games as a freshman.
DUCKS ARE WINNING CLOSE GAMES THIS SEASON
Oregon is 10-1 this season in games decided by fewer than 10 points (4-0 in games decided by less than five points). UO's only loss in those games came in last Sunday's 76-71 home defeat to OSU. The Pac-12 team with the next best record in games decided by less than 10 points is Colorado (7-4).
In those tight games, the Ducks had the advantage in all three shooting percentages (UO / Opponent): overall field goal percentage (45.0 / 42.8), 3-point percentage (37.0 / 32.0) and free throw percentage (72.4 / 67.0).
UO has closed-out several games on the free throw line. The Ducks are shooting 88.0 percent (66-of-75) from the charity stripe in the final five minutes of games decided by less than 10 points. A big difference from the 69.5 percent (333-of-479) they are making on the season.
UO's primary ball handlers have been terrific at the line in crunch time. E.J. Singler (23-of-24), Garrett Sim (14-of-15), Devoe Joseph (11-of-13) and Johnathan Loyd (10-of-12) are a combined 58-of-64 (90.6 percent) in those pressure situations.
OREGON OFF TO STRONG START IN CONFERENCE PLAY
Oregon (6-3) is tied for third in the Pac-12 standings (with Colorado). It's UO's best start in league play since the 2006-07 season. The Ducks came in at No. 74 in this week's NCAA RPI Rankings released on Monday. Only one other Pac-12 school ranks higher (Cal at No. 30).
The Ducks have been effective away from Eugene, as half of UO's league wins have come on the road (3-1 in road tests). The other 11 league schools are a combined 12-of-39 in road games.
In Pac-12 games only, UO ranks third in 3-pointers made (63) and free throw percentage (.723), fourth in blocks (3.7 bpg), and fifth in both scoring offense (69.7 ppg) and rebounding margin (+2.1). Individually, Devoe Joseph ranks fourth (16.1 ppg) and E.J. Singler ranks ninth (14.1 ppg) in scoring.
UO FEATURES BALANCED SCORING ATTACK
Six different Ducks have led the team in scoring this season: Devoe Joseph (seven times), Garrett Sim (six times), E.J. Singler (six times), Olu Ashaolu (twice), Johnathan Loyd (once) and Tony Woods (once). Ten of UO's 11 scholarship players have reached double-figures in scoring. The leaders in that category are Singler (17 times), Sim (14) and Joseph (14). In addition, five different Ducks have dropped 20 or more points in a game this season (Sim and Singler three times, Joseph twice, Ashaolu and Loyd once).
JOSEPH KEY ADDITION TO OREGON LINEUP
Since becoming eligible to compete on Dec. 10, senior guard Devoe Joseph (bio on page 18) has averaged a team-high 15.4 points per outing. He's led the team in field goals made (77), field goals attempted (170) and minutes played (34.2 mpg) in those 15 games. The Ducks are 11-4 with him in the lineup.
Joseph has scored in double-figures 14 times and has a 30-point effort against Stanford in the books. He is coming off a team-high 26 points in last Sunday's home loss to the Beavers.
Joseph has bettered his scoring average to 16.1 points per game in the Pac-12, shooting 48.0 percent (24-of-50) on 3-pointers in those league games. He's also shooting 83.3 percent on free throws (25-of-30) against Pac-12 teams.
In his Oregon debut against Fresno State, Joseph came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points in 29 minutes. Joseph tallied 19 points and a career-high five steals in UO's win over Prairie View A&M. A night later he nearly registered a double-double with 10 points and a career-best eight rebounds against Stephen F. Austin. Joseph had 17 points and matched a career-high with seven assists in a win over Washington State.
BLOCKED SHOTS A FACTOR FOR DUCKS
UO has an 8-2 record in games where they tally four or more blocked shots. The Ducks' only losses came in the season-opener at No. 7 Vanderbilt and last Sunday against Oregon State. In 20 of the 21 outings this season, Oregon has recorded at least one block. The Ducks are 8-1 this season when they record more blocks than their opponent (L, vs. Oregon State).
Junior center Tony Woods (bio on page 21) ranks tied for first in the Pac-12 with 36 blocks (1.7 bpg). Woods has rejected 21 shots (2.3 bpg) in the Ducks' nine conference games this year. As a team, UO ranks fifth in blocks (3.8 bpg) amongst the rest of the league.
Woods' total in 2011-12 ranks sixth all-time for blocks in a single season at Oregon. With a possible 10 games remaining on the schedule, Woods is projected to break the school record for blocks in a season as he is just seven shy from breaking the record (42, Blair Rasmussen in 1983-84).
Woods had a career-high five blocks in the win over Portland State, the most blocks for a UO player since Dec. 31, 2009 (Michael Dunigan at Washington State). That total is tied for the second-best single-game effort for a Pac-12 player this season. In addition, that five-block game ranks tied for second in school history for most blocks in a single game.
SIM AVERAGING CAREER-HIGHS THIS SEASON
Senior guard Garrett Sim (bio on page 9) is averaging career-highs in points per game (12.2), field goal percentage (.512, 84-of-164), 3-point percentage (.456, 41-of-90) and free throw percentage (.855, 47-of-55). He ranks second in the conference in 3-point percentage and fourth in free throw percentage, while ranking 12th in overall field goal percentage (one of two guards in the top 12).
Sim's does not have enough made field goals to qualify for the national rankings (minimum 5 FGs made/game; 2.5 3-PT FGs made/game). However, Sim's 3-point field goal percentage would rank 13th and his overall field goal percentage would rank 65th nationally.
In 123 career games, Sim has 920 points (seventh) and 219 assists (eighth) which both rank in the top 10 of the Pac-12's active career leaders. In addition, Sim's 153 career 3-pointers ranks second and his 92 career steals ranks seventh.
Sim is on pace to match Joevan Catron's modern school record for games played (133). With a 12.2 ppg average this season, Sim is also on track to become the 32nd player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. Sim is also just 11 steals shy of ranking 10th all-time at UO for career steals (92).
