Oregon - LSU Postgame Quotes
March 13, 2012 (Matthew Knight Arena)
Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman
On the way they played the game…
“We were really active and moved the ball. We were really hurt with our performance in the championship game. We let ourselves, fans, and teammates down. I think it's a credit to the seniors, they all wanted to play.”
“Our guys get so excited when they are scoring baskets that they forget to guard. Our defense wasn't where I wanted it to be in the second half.”
On Tony Woods…
“Tony has just gotten so much more aggressive. He is finally finishing plays and taking balls from the net. I liked the way he takes the ball right from the basket, and I definitely think that he can be that kind of scorer. You can tell that he wants to go to the rim. Whatever happened I liked it! It gives us a presence inside. He had great moves and he was smooth to the basket.”
On LSU…
“We got our tempo going, and LSU is big and can guard. Our tempo was what we wanted and they weren't at the same tempo. We got 22 points from turnovers.”
Guard Devoe Joseph
On losing in the Pac-12 conference…
“It is always a little disappointing but we have an opportunity to do something big and go to New York (for the NIT Championship at Madison Square Garden). It could be a really great experience.”
On Tony Woods…
“Tony is good in the post and has really strong moves.”
On how the team played tonight…
“We got steals that enabled us to get baskets. We played our style of basketball. “
“We got in the flow of the game a little faster [than LSU]. We were sharing the ball and did a good job of making the right plays. If we share the basketball and play defensively then we will play our style of basketball.”
On continuing in the NIT…
“We get to play another game. As a senior I want to play as long as possible. We want to take advantage of the home court and hopefully make it to the final four.”
Center Tony Woods
On why he was successful tonight…
“Confidence was the biggest thing. I feel really confidence on offense.”
On his shoulder injury…
“It's doing better, I have been having a lot of treatment on it. We loosen it up and I've been taking some meds to numb it. It's not 100 percent but it's good.”

LSU Head Coach Trent Johnson
On tonight's loss against Oregon…
“They went on a five minute spurt. They shot really well and executed…I have a lot of respect for Dana (Altman) and I have watched Garrett Sim and E.J. Singler since I was at Stanford. I have said they are the best team from start to finish in the Pac-12.”
On early foul trouble…
“ It's hard when your two best players get in foul trouble, Anthony Hickey and Ralston Turner our two best guards, but somebody else must step up and play.”
Forward Ralston Turner
On the loss…
“I was trying to make plays for my team, but [the team] can't get it all back at one time.”
On season…
“We made a lot of progress this year. We have a good amount of guys coming back, and we are only losing three guys.”
Center Justin Hamilton
On his first-half performance…
“We had a couple guys in quick foul trouble, they (Oregon) were making threes and outplaying us. They had a lot of energy from the crowd. They played a lot better today and they beat us.”
On getting within 10 points…
“They hit big shots, and every time we got close, they hit a big three.”
