
Cho Jumps to Second After Bandon Round 2; UO in Third

BANDON, Ore. - University of Oregon freshman men's golfer Rak Cho climbed 10 places Saturday into second place at the end of the second day of the Bandon Dunes Championship.
The freshman from Brea, Calif., shot the second-lowest score of the tourney with his three-under 68, and his two-round score (72-68-140) was only two strokes shy of leader Chris Williams of Washington (71-67-138).
Glancing at Cho's scorecard, he carded five birdies on holes #3, 5-6, 9, 14; 11 par scores (#2, 4, 7-8, 10-13, 15-17); and two bogeys (#1, 18).
Team-wise, the Ducks' five official entries all shot scores within one stroke of each other.
Redshirt junior Robbie Ziegler also still stood top 10 overall (ninth-tie, 70-74-144), and three others ranked top 30 overall - seniors Andrew Vijarro (13th-tie, 71-74-145), Eugene Wong (25th-tie, 73-74-147) and Daniel Miernicki (28th-t, 73-75-148).
Sophomore Ben Itterman rounded out UO's team entries (59th-t, 79-75-154).
Like Cho, Oregon had five other players compete as individuals - freshman Jonathan Woo (fourth-tie, 68-74-142), junior Jack Pennington (65th-tiek, 81-75-156), redshirt senior Jack Paton (73rd-tie, 79-80-159), redshirt junior Tyler Parker (76th, 76-84-160) and freshman Tye Gabriel (77th-tie, 87-74-161).
Among the team standings, No. 9 Oregon stood in third place (287-297-584), and trailed No. 3 Washington (first, 284-287-571) and Long Beach State (second, 291-287-578).
Oregon State (fourth, 291-29-585), Colorado (fifth-tie, 296-291-587), British Columbia (fifth-tie, 295-292-587) and San Jose State (fifth-tie, 295-292-587) rounded out the top five in the 15-team event.
