EUGENE - Thanks to an eighth-inning homer by senior Lindsey Chambers, the No. 16 University of Oregon softball team (22-6, 1-2) won its third and final game of the series vs. Boise State (25-13, 0-0) by a 6-4 count Thursday afternoon at Howe Field.

Both teams owned the lead in the sixth and seventh innings in the back-and-forth battle until Chambers ended matters in the eighth.

The Concord, Calif., native Chambers drilled her first homer of the season over the left field wall - a two-run shot - after sophomore Alexa Peterson had doubled the at-bat before.

UO scored the game's first run in the fourth after sophomore Kailee Cuico opened with a double, and scored on a single by junior Samantha Pappas.

Boise State took the lead in the sixth inning after a pair of singles and a walk opened the inning. A single by the clean-up hitter Allie Crump knocked in the first run, and the next batter added another run on an error on a grounder to the first baseman.

In the bottom half of the sixth, Peterson put Oregon back up ahead with her first homer of the season - a two-out, two-run homer to left field on a 3-2 pitch.

BSU came right back in the seventh with a double and single, and after a wild pitch, lead-off hiter Tara Glover laced a one-out, two-run single up the the middle to put Boise State back up, 4-3.

UO answered with the tying run in the seventh, aided by a pair of infield errors to open the inning. A wild pitch advanced runners to second and third base, and a two-out fielder's choice grounder by Kailee Cuico scored Oregon's fourth run.

In the eighth, Duck reliever Jessica Moore (14-5) survived a pair of walks by getting the remaining batters on a strikeout and pair of fielder's choice outs.

Chambers ended the game in the eighth inning with her ninth career homer, and her first game-winning RBI of the season.

In her three innings of relief work, the All-Pac-12 pitcher Moore struck out two, walked two, allowed five hits, and both of her runs allowed were earned.

Duck freshman Karissa Hovinga started the game, and in her five innings, struck out one, walked two, yielded three hits, and one of her runs allowed were earned.

"We didn't hit the ball well enough early," Oregon head coach Mike White said, "but stepped up when we needed to thanks to Alexa and Lindsey. Boise State is a good team, but we took advantage of some breaks and hung in there. Karissa pitched well, especially early and got a lot of ground balls like we asked her to do."

Boise State starter and returning Mountain West Conference pitcher of the year Aubray Zell (15-8) pitched the complete game, struck out eight, walked one, allowed seven hits, and five of her six runs allowed were earned.

At the plate for the Broncos, Glover went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI, and six others had single hits.

Earlier in the series, UO won Wednesday's doubleheader by 4-1 and 14-6 scores.

Looking ahead, Oregon has three more games this weekend against returning national champion Arizona State (31-3, 3-0). The Ducks host the No. 5 Sun Devils for single games each day (with start times in ()) on Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (5 p.m.) and Sunday (noon).
