
UO Completes Day Three of ITA Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. – The doubles team of Nia Rose and Alyssa Tobita won their round of 16 match over Miki Kobayashi and Grace Sari Ysidora of Washington, 8-7 (3), but then they dropped their quarterfinal match to Caroline Doyle and Ellen Tsay of Stanford, 8-4, Sunday at the USATA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships in Stanford, Calif.
The loss was the first for the freshmen pair this fall tournament season. They now stand at 7-1 on the season.
Lina Åkesson and Allie Hueffner won their match in the consolation doubles round of 32 over Portland's Gergana Boncheva and Christiana E. Ferrari, 8-6.
Åkesson also won her consolation singles round of 32 match over Capucine Gregoire of Washington, 6-3, 6-2.
Marlou Kluiving met Ferrari of Portland in the singles consolation round of 32 and did not drop a game on her way to a convincing 6-0, 6-0 win.
Hueffner battled, but lost a tough match, 7-6 (10), 4-6, 1-0 (4), to Kelli R Woodman of Seattle University.
Next Up: The doubles team of Åkesson and Hueffner will move on in the consolation doubles tournament tomorrow morning. Åkesson and Kluiving will both keep competing in the consolation singles tournament.
