Western Oregon vs. Oregon - Quotes
11/10/14 | Men's Basketball
Elgin Cook – Forward, Junior
On the game…
“I think we made a big step in the right direction. We did a better job of being aware of screens and we got a lot of rebounds.”
On the slow start…
“There was no energy. I came out with some turnovers and had a bad shot and that just sucked the energy out.”
On preparing for the regular season…
“We're getting there. We're working on it in practice and trying to build it up and get better. We just need to keep coming together as a team. We've got a lot of new players.”
Dana Altman – Head Coach
On progress so far...
"I thought we took some steps. Got off to a really slow start, no energy and made some bad decisions defensively. But then our defensive intensity picked up in the 2nd half and we really out rebounded them so got a lot more active and the pace we were running at in the 2nd half was much closer to what I had invisioned this team doing. Thought we took a big step which is what is expected between your first and second contest."
On biggest take away from these two exhibition game...
"I like the freshman. I think they want to be players and have been pretty coachable. I like the direction they are headed and we are going to but a tremendous amount of pressure on them early so its good they are making steps."
On what he was most impressed about this game...
"The tempo we ran in the 2nd half, our transition was much harder and our guys ran much harder. And then the 30 to 8 rebound advantage in the second half we had a lot of guys going to the board which we are going to have to do. We just aren't a very big team so everyones going to have to stick their nose in there."
