
Ducks Log First Day at Kramer Classic

ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, Calif. – Three members of the Oregon men's tennis team opened play today at the Kramer Classic as competition took place at the Jack Kramer Tennis Club.
In singles, Daan Maasland came in at the No. 2 seed and received a first-round bye.
Alberto Reyes faced Washington's Sebastian Hawkens in the opening round. After taking the first set in the tiebreaker, Reyes was unable to hold the lead and fell 6-2, 6-1 in the next two.
Simon Stevens also had his match go the full three sets. Taking on SMU's Ronald Slobodchikov, Stevens won the opening set 6-4, but then dropped the next two, 7-5, 6-4.
Then in the round of 32, Maasland fell to UCLA's Ryo Tachioka 6-4, 6-0. The loss moves him over to the consolation bracket where all three Ducks will continue play tomorrow.
In doubles, Maasland and Stevens were awarded the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye. They'll play their first match tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
