The Volunteers are led by the sister tandem of A.J. and Anna Newell. A.J., who is a senior, is the No. 41 player in the country with a 72.91 average and her younger sister, Anna, is No. 54 with a 73.12 average.
Behind the No. 35 Ducks, the Big Ten will be well-represented by No. 40 Ohio State and the host school, No. 42 Wisconsin. Last year the Buckeyes won the team title with a 26-under 838 (281-278-279). In the Pac-12, Oregon will be joined by Washington State and Oregon State.
Last Time Out
The Ducks started out the spring season with a bang and won the Peg Barnard Invitational with an 8-over 576 (292-284). Oregon trailed UC Davis by nine strokes going into the final round, but UO was able to erase the deficit and ended up defeating the second-place Aggies by three strokes.
Kelsey Ulep was the top finisher for the Green and Yellow with a 2-under 140 (70-70), giving the freshman third place in the individual standings. Cassy Isagawa – playing as an individual – was right behind with a 1-under 141 (69-70) for a tie for fourth place.
Cathleen Santoso was steady as usual (even-par 142, 70-72), Caroline Inglis and Cali Hipp both rebounded from rocky first rounds to come back with even-par 71's to finish tied for 16th and tied for 22nd, respectively.
Sophomore Marcella Pranovia joined Inglis in a tie for 16th with two solid rounds of 75 and 73 for 6-over 148.
History at The Westbrook
The Ducks came extremely close to winning the Westbrook Invitational last season, finishing with a 16-under 848. The score set the program record for lowest tournament score vs. par. Oregon also set the school record for the lowest round in school in round two with a 14-under 274.
Isagawa (68-68-71) and Santoso (70-63-74) tied for second individually with a pair of 9-under 207's. Santoso's 9-under 63 in the second round set the school record for lowest individual round in school history.
Here Comes Ulep
The freshman notched two under-par rounds after going the entire fall season without ending a round in the red. The Rocklin, Calif., native's two under-par rounds set the tone for the Ducks' success last weekend.
One Title In the Books
Having won one their first tournament of the season last weekend, the Ducks will look to capture their second when they tee off tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. Oregon has not won two tournaments in a season since the 2010-11 season when they won the Dick McGuire/Branch Law Invitational in the fall season and then the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in the spring season.
Conditions
Sunday's forecast calls for a high of 74 degrees with a low of 54 under partly cloudy skies, and Monday's forecast might bring a.m. scattered showers with a high of 72 and low of 50.
