KAPALUA, Hawai'i – The Ducks fell two spots in the final round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic Wednesday morning and finished in fifth place in the three-day tournament at the Bay Course on the island of Maui. Oregon finished with a 15-over 879 after carding a 6-over 294 in the third round.
Caroline Inglis led the Ducks with a third-place individual finish thanks to a 1-under 215 (75-68-72).
How It Happened: The Ducks began the day on holes 1-5 competing with players from UC Davis, Texas and San Jose State.
Inglis recorded four of her tournament-high 13 birdies in the final round, with three of them coming on par-5's. She ended the day with an even-par 72, giving the junior her top finish as an individual at Oregon.
Cassy Isagawa provided the lowest round of the day for any UO player with a 1-under 71. The senior knocked in three birdies on the day and finished the tournament tied for seventh with a 218 (76-71-71). The Hawai'ian's two-consecutive under-par rounds on day two and three vaulted Isagawa into her second-best tournament finish of the year.
Cathleen Santoso was 1-under entering the final three holes, but the sophomore doubled No. 16 and bogeyed the 18th to end with a 2-over 74. Santoso ended up tying for ninth (219, 74-71-74), giving the Sydney, Australia, native her fourth-consecutive top-10 finish in a row.
Marcella Pranovia provided the last counting score of the day for the Ducks after firing a 5-over 77. The Bali, Indonesia, native finished the week tied for 30th with a 227 (76-74-77).
Kelsey Ulep struggled on the final day and finished with a 7-over 79. The freshman tied for 45th with a 231 (78-74-79).
Cali Hipp carded her lowest round of the tournament and ended the final day with a 4-over 76. She tied for 57th (237, 80-81-76).
UC Davis pulled away from the rest of the field and won the team title with a 1-under 863. The Aggies' Andrea Wong won the individual title with a 7-under 209 (71-68-70).
What It Means: The fifth-place finish marks the first time this spring that the Ducks have not finished in first or second place. The last time Oregon finished worse than second place was during the fall season a couple islands away on Kailua Kona, Hawai'i, in the Pac-12 Preview (9th, 912).
Inglis the Islander: On a similar note, Inglis' last trip to Hawai'i at the Pac-12 Preview also resulted in a 1-under finish that gave her a tie for fifth place. After finishing 1-under on this week's trip to Maui, the Eugene native will have played all six of her rounds in Hawai'i at even or under par.
Next Up: Oregon will prepare to host the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif., from Monday, April 13 to Tuesday, April 14.
