HOW IT HAPPENED: The Ducks (12-5, 1-5 Pac-12) used a first quarter 10-2 run to grab the lead early on as the Golden Bears (10-7, 1-5 Pac-12) struggled to score. Alleyne had seven points in the opening quarter and capped off the run with a three-point play at the 3:58 mark.
Oregon then opened the second quarter by finding the open player inside on three straight possessions, forcing Cal to call a time-out. That did little to stop the momentum of Alleyne as she went four-of-five from the floor in the quarter and led all players with 15 points at the break. The Oregon defense also held Cal to just six field goals in the first half and only four points in the second quarter.
“We made it a point to get the ball into Jill early,” head coach Kelly Graves said. “She's a special kind of player. If she has her focus and that intensity on offense, she's tough to defend.”
Following the halftime break, Cal came out and scored seven quick points to cut the Ducks' lead to seven, but a timely three-pointer by Lexi Petersen sparked a 12-2 run that opened the game up for Oregon. The Bears' offense made a run in the fourth quarter, but six timely free throws from Lexi Bando down the stretch made sure that the game stayed firmly in Oregon's favor.
POSTGAME NOTEBOOK: Alleyne now has 1,573 career rebounds as she passed Stanford's Chiney Ogwumike to become the all-time leading rebounder in the Pac-12. Her double-double today is also No. 83 for her career and she is just two shy of tying Ogwumike's conference record for career double-doubles … Lexi Petersen scored 12 points, all of which came in the second half. She now has 1,005 career points and became the 27th player in program history to score 1,000 points … The win snaps a six-game losing streak to the Bears and marks the first win against Cal in Eugene since 2007 … Jacinta Vandenberg led the team with five assists while Maite Cazorla added four of her own … The Ducks' gave up 11 first-half offensive rebounds, but only allowed three in the second half while collecting 10 of their own. Alleyne had seven offensive boards, six of which came in the second half.
