Get to know Australian guard Morgan Yaeger
Freshman guard Morgan Yaeger answers a few questions as she prepares for the Ducks' exhibition game on Saturday and the regular season opener on Nov. 13.Â
Do you have a nickname? Is there a story behind it?
Yaegz and Yaegerbomb

When did you start playing basketball?
When I was just 5 years old.Â
What is your favorite basketball memory?
Playing internationally for Australia.
Did anyone in your family play basketball?
Yes, my mum played when she was a kid.

Tell us more about your family.
My Dad played football (American football) and was the captain playing quarterback for team Australia in the world cup in Italy. My Dad and his side of the family is from Minnesota but moved to Australia when he was 16. Mum and her family are all Australian and I was born in Australia.

Diana Taurasi and Xavi Lopez.
Where do you like to hang out in Eugene?
Matthew Knight Arena for sure.
Why did you choose Oregon?
Oregon has a great student-athlete program and I believed that the women's basketball team was a perfect fit for me.

Any thoughts on what your major will be?
Possibly business, not sure yet.Â
What have your first couple of quarters in college been like?
It has been stressful but fun.
What is it like being on the team?
Really fun! The team is like my second family.
Â
What are you most excited about this year?
Playing conference games in the Pac-12.
Why did you choose your jersey number?
I wanted to wear No. 5, but Maite stole that! So I had to resort to my second favorite, No. 2.Â

What are some of your other hobbies outside of basketball?
I love water skiing, wakeboarding and other water sports.

What is a goal you have for your college career?
Graduate with a great degree and make the Final Four.

What is a goal you have for after graduation?
I want to play basketball professionally.Â
