Ducks Sweep Day One Doubles at Gonzaga Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Oregon women's tennis team went 3-0 in doubles and 4-2 in singles after the first day of the Gonzaga Invitational.
How It Happened: For the third straight tournament, the Ducks swept their first round of tournament doubles match-ups.
The Ducks' duo of junior Alyssa Tobita and Shweta Sangwan defeated Petrei/Badillos of the University of Idaho, 6-2.
Senior Marlou Kluiving and freshman Julia Eshet bested Tavares/Batiri (UI), 7-6(6).
Junior Nia Rose and sophomore Daniela Nasser won 6-0 over Yang/Watabe (UI).
In singles play, the Ducks went 4-2 against the Gonzaga Zags.
Nasser won in three sets (6-3,2-6,6-3) against Kate Ketels. Eshet and Sangwan also won in three sets (4-6,6-1,6-2) (6-1,4-6,6-4) over Haruna Tsurata and Domonique Garley, respectively. Kluiving bested Domonique Garley, 7-5, 6-1. Rose and Tobita were defeated by Nevada Apollo (6-1,4-6,6-0) and Sophie Whittle (6-1,6-1), respectively.
What It Means: Today's sweep in doubles play is the third straight fall tournament the Ducks' pairs swept.
Looking Ahead: The Ducks will continue play at the Gonzaga Invitational tomorrow with singles matches at 9:00 a.m. and doubles beginning at 12:30 p.m.
