What has been your favorite memory from being on the Acrobatics & Tumbling team? Why?
My favorite memory from being on the team is winning the national championship my freshman year. It felt like all of our hard work had truly paid off. It is definitely a moment that I will never forget and carry with me for the rest of my life. Â
What is your favorite event of an Acrobatics & Tumbling meet? Why?
My favorite is the team routine. I love this event, because it really highlights all of our different skills and is very exciting and fast-paced. Most, if not all, meets come down to this event and it really brings out my competitive drive.Â
How has being a student-athlete help shape the person you are today?
Being a student-athlete has taught me so many life skills that I will use for the rest of my life. I have learned how to be a better teammate and overall leader. I have also learned to never settle or sell myself short. Often times, we are capable of so much more than we ever know. One quote that has really stuck with me through my experience as a student-athlete is, "if your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough."
What are your plans after graduation?
I am not exactly sure what I will be doing after graduation, but I hope to find a job that allows me to be close to my family. We are all very close and I would love to be able to see them as much as possible!
What was your proudest moment as a student-athlete at the University of Oregon?
My proudest moment has been getting to be on a team filled with so much talent. It is so humbling to look around at practice and realize that you are getting to train and compete with some of the best athletes in the country. We all keep each other motivated and every time we step out on the mat we, are doing it for each other.
What are you going to miss the most after graduation from being on this team?
I'm going to miss getting to see my best friends every day. You'd think that we might get sick of each other, but that really couldn't be farther from the truth! It has been such a blessing to have met my best friends through this team and I will always be grateful for that.Â
What is your main goal to accomplish in your final season?
I want to be able to leave with absolutely no regrets. I want to feel like as a team, we gave it our all and left it all out on the mat. Being able to walk away knowing that, will be one of the best feelings.Â
Who is somebody who has had a great influence on you? Why?
My parents have always had such a great influence on me. I have looked up to both of them my whole live and strive to make them proud every single day. They always push me to be the best person I can be both on and off the mat. I am so thankful for their love and support.Â
What is your favorite quote?
"She was unstoppable. Not because she didn't have failures or doubts, but because she continued on despite them." - Beau Taplin
What is one thing that you hope this program will remember you for?
I hope this program will remember me for being an all-around good teammate. I want to be remembered as someone that my teammates could go to regardless of what they needed both on the mat and in life.
If you could describe yourself with one word, what would it be? Why?
Driven. Like anyone else, I have faced hardships in my life, but they've always motivated me to keep going and to never give up on my goals. I am never truly satisfied until I have reached what I set out to accomplish.Â
