TOURNAMENT HISTORY
A year ago, Caroline Inglis became the first golfer in Oregon program history to capture the individual title at the Pac-12 Championships, held at the Boulder Country Club in Boulder, Colo. Inglis fired a 7-under 206 (67-72-67), which was the lowest 54-hole total ever recorded at the Pac-12 Championships. It was also the second lowest total recorded in school history.
As a team, UO finished second as it shot a 6-over 858, shattering the Ducks' previous Pac-12 Championship record of 889, set in 2010. Individually and as a team, Oregon had its most successful conference championship in program history.
IN THE RANKINGS
After recording their fifth Top 5 finish of the spring season against stiff competition, the Ducks have shown they are among the best in the country. That sentiment has been shown in the Golfstat rankings where Oregon has been climing steadily. Following its second place finish in a stacked Silverado Showdown field, UO has moved up to No. 20 in the rankings released on April 12.
LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks co-hosted the 3rd annual Silverado Showdown with Colorado at the Silverado Resort in Napa, Calif. In a loaded 18-team field, Oregon came away with the top individual in Cathleen Santoso and finished second as a team, marking the fifth Top-5 finish of the spring for UO.
Santoso led after the first round by firing a blistering 5-under 67. She then fell behind by one stroke to Stanford's Lauren Kim after shooting a 1-over 73 in the second round, before she regained the lead on Wednesday by closing out the tournametn with a 1-under 71. The medalist title is the second of Santoso's career and her efforts help the Ducks finish second.
In the final round, Caroline Inglis was on fire as the senior shot a 2-under 70. Her final score card read 76-73-70—219 (+3) and she finished 10th overall, marking the fifth top-10 finish for her this season. Starting on the second hole, Inglis sunk two birdies in her first three holes to go 2-under early on. A bogey on the fifth hole brought her up to 1-under but she fired another birdie, this time on the ninth hole, to go 2-under heading into the turn. On the back nine, she held par until she bogeyed on the par-3 15th hole. She came back and sunk a birdie on the par-4 17th hole to lower her score back down to 2-under and she made par on the final three holes to finish the round with a 70.
Kathleen Scavo contributed the next lowest score as the freshman carded a 3-over 75 in the final round. Starting on the third hole, Scavo struggled early on, recording three bogeys in the first four holes. She was able to recover on the back nine, sinking two birdies on the 11th and 13th holes to bring her card back down to 1-over. However, two more bogeys in the final five holes pushed her back up to 3-over to end the round. For the tournament, Scavo's score card read 80-73-75—228 (+12), tying her for 47th with teammate Petra Salko. Rounding out the counting scores was Marcella Pranovia who shot a 5-over 77 in the final round.
On the individual side, sophomore Kelsey Ulep also recorded a top-10 finish as she carded a 1-under 71 in the final round. Ulep's final card read 68-78-71—217 (+1) as she finished sixth overall. Oregon was the only team in the field to place three individuals in the top 10.
