
Ducks Break School Record in Win at Azusa Pacific

AZUSA, Calif. – The Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team recorded a new program-best overall score in a 291.480-284.720 win at Azusa Pacific on Monday to wrap up the regular season.
How It Happened: Thanks in part to their second 10 score of the season in the toss heat, the Ducks jumped out to an early lead with a 39.00-38.65 win in compulsories. Oregon's 39.00 was its second highest of the season in the event, sitting only behind the Ducks' 39.25 in the tri-meet against Gannon and King.
Oregon expanded on its lead in acro, tying the Cougars in the 5-element with a 9.85 before taking the 6-element, 9.90-9.75, and the 7-element, 9.75-9.70, to earn a 29.50-29.30 win in the event.
The Cougars were able to slow Oregon's momentum in the pyramid event with a 29.70-29.55 win. The Ducks recorded their fourth heat-three 10 score of the season, but Azusa Pacific matched that score and posted another 10 in the second heat to edge the Ducks. Nonetheless, Oregon led, 98.05-97.65, heading into the half.
Oregon recorded season highs in the final three events to seal the win and the new school record.
The Ducks got back on track in the toss, coming out of the locker room to record a new season-high 29.55 in the event and best Azusa Pacific's 28.80. Oregon matched season highs in heat two (9.75) and heat three (9.95) on its way to one-upping its previous best of 29.40 in the event.
Showcasing their consistency, the Ducks recorded scores of 9.20 or above in all six heats of the tumbling event to post a new season high of 58.45. Upping its previous high of 58.05, Oregon either tied or improved on its season bests in the triple pass (9.60), quad pass (9.20), aerial pass (9.90) and open pass (9.90).
The Ducks blew their previous season high of 101.46 out of the water in the team event, recording a 105.43 to finish off the Cougars and reach their highest overall total since the program's founding.
Notable: Oregon topped its previous program best score of 291.26 (at Fairmont State, 2012) in the win … The Ducks' 29.55 in the toss was the second-highest score in the event in school history, while the 58.450 in tumbling tied for fourth.
Up Next: The Ducks will look to earn their fifth NCATA title later this month when they head to Waco, Texas, for the NCATA Championships. The championships are set to begin April 16 with the Individual Event Finals. The team championship is set for April 17-19.
