CORVALLIS, Ore. – The No. 6 ranked Oregon softball team won its 10th straight game against rival Oregon State, 6-1, to start a three-game series on Friday afternoon.

The Ducks (30-6, 8-2 Pac-12) smacked six hits in support of Cheridan Hawkins who turned in a strong outing, improving to 12-3 after allowing one unearned run on five hits in a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Oregon struck first on a two-out RBI single by Lauren Lindvall in the second inning. Oregon is now 24-1 this season when scoring first.

Danica Mercado hit her first homer of the year in the third to put the Ducks up 2-0 and Oregon scored again in the frame on a RBI double from Geri Ann Glasco.

After OSU scored once in the third and a scoreless fourth, Oregon scored three runs in the fifth. Nikki Udria drove in a run with a RBI single and Koral Costa pushed home a run with a RBI sacrifice bunt. In the next at-bat, with runners at first and third, the Ducks pulled off a double steal with Udria stealing home successfully.

Neither team scored again and Hawkins picked up her 10th strikeout to end the game.

LILLEY'S BACK: Jenna Lilley, who missed last weekend's series with UCLA after being struck in the face with a pitch against Stanford, was back on the field. She came in at third in the fifth inning.

A GRAND TIME: Cheridan Hawkins now has 990 strikeouts in her career after recording 10 against the Beavers. She needs just 10 more to reach 1,000 in her career.

CIVIL WAR WINNING STREAK: In Oregon's 11-game winning streak against the rivals, the Ducks have outscored the Beavers 107-21.
