10/07/05 | General
In the fast-paced action of track and field and cross country, there always is the possibility of injury. Oregon recognizes it is critical to have a trained team of experts to treat the wide variety of non-contact and contact-related problems.
Oregon maintains full-service treatment centers at the Casanova Center, Hayward Field and McArthur Court and both are fully equipped facilities containing whirlpools, hot pack cabinets, an electric galvanic stimulator and diathermy, ultrasound and rehabilitation exercise equipment.
The staff of physicians and surgeons relish being part of the team and are available for consultation whenever necessary.
In addition to team physicians Dr. Robert Crist and Ken Singer, specialists from Eugene's Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic are among more than 20 medical and dental specialists, oral surgeons and optometrists that serve Oregon's student-athletes.
Five full-time certified athletic trainers, three graduate students and 12 student trainers assist in staffing the athletic treatment centers. In addition, the university's Student Health Center is easily accessible to student-athletes as well.
