Ducks sign three to letters of intent

A pair of highly-touted international players and the top junior golfer in the state of Oregon make up the 2018 recruiting class.
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon men's golf coach Casey Martin announced the signing of three golfers Thursday. Tom Parker of Christchurch, New Zealand, Craig Ronne of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Yin Ho Yue of Shanghai, China signed National Letters of Intent and will join the program in 2018.
"We're excited about all three of them," Martin said. "They all possess different skill sets but they all have a strong desire to get better and develop, so they're going to fit in nicely."
Tom Parker, Christchurch, New Zealand
The runner-up at the 2017 New Zealand Amateur Championship … Won 1 up in the quarterfinals and 2&1 in the semifinals to reach the championship match … The winner of the 2017 New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship, shooting 9-under par to win by three strokes … Finished tied for third at the 2017 Australian Boys Championship at 4-under par in the four-day tournament … Won the 2016 Faldo New Zealand Championship and placed third at the Faldo Series Grand Final.
Martin on Parker: "Tom Parker is a highly thought of player from New Zealand. He's been at the top in New Zealand for a number of years and has kind of established himself internationally as a highly ranked kid. He was heavily recruited by a number of schools in America."
Craig Ronne, Klamath Falls, Ore. (Klamath Union HS)
Named the 2017 Oregon Junior Golf Player of the Year … Won the 2017 Oregon Junior Amateur with a 4&3 win in the match play final … Dominated at the 2017 Oregon Junior Stroke Play with a seven-shot win, finishing 12-under par over the three-day tournament … Represented Oregon at the 2017 Hogan Cup, finishing tied for 12th … Shared medalist honors at the 2016 Hogan Cup with a score of 4-under par over the two-day event.
Martin on Ronne: "He's a kid that we've recruited for a long time. He's been one of the top players in the state for a number of years and he's got a great energy about him and he's really dominated the state and the Oregon Junior Golf Association. We're stoked to get him. He's a kid that's important to us because we want the best players in the state to stay here."
Yin Ho Yue, Shanghai, China
Qualified via Monday Qualifier for the 2017 PGA Tour China Clearwater Bay Open, shooting a 2-over par 72 … Finished tied for 47th in the event … Tied for sixth in the FCG Callaway World Championship finishing 1-over par in the three-day tournament … Shared medalist honors at the 2017 TrueVisions International Junior Golf Championship … Qualified for the European Tour's 2016 Hong Kong Open by finishing first in the qualifier at 1-under par over the two-day event.
Martin on Yue: "He's a kid from China and we've been trying to make inroads there by virtue of how golf is growing and he's done some really good things. He hasn't had the access to play as much as some of the other kids have had because of his schooling but has established himself in China as one of the top young players."
