
Ducks Drop Series Finale

BERKELEY, Calif. – Oregon struggled offensively in a 4-1 loss to California, snapping an eight-game winning streak in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Evans Diamond.
How it Happened: The Ducks' bats were kept in check all game by California starter Joey Matulovich (3-0), who pitched eight innings and allowed one run on six hits with one strikeout and no walks.
The Golden Bears (9-9, 1-2 Pac-12) struck first for the second-straight game on back-to-back doubles off Oregon starter Cole Stringer (2-1) to start the second inning. Cal added another run two batters later on a sacrifice fly to take a 2-0 lead.
Spencer Steer drove in Oregon's only run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to score Matthew Dyer who opened the inning with a double.
Cal added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning on a home run by Denis Karas and an RBI single by Jonah Davis.
The Ducks (13-5, 2-1 Pac-12) got the tying run on base in the ninth inning after loading the bases with two outs, but couldn't cash in as pinch-hitter Braden Stutzman struck out to end the game.
