
Ducks Seek Strong Finish Entering Final Round

THE OREGON WOMEN'S GOLF TEAM SHOT 31-OVER 319 IN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND WILL LOOK TO FINISH STRONG IN MONDAY'S FINAL ROUND OF STROKE PLAY.
SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - The Oregon women's golf team will look to finish the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championships strong on Monday after shooting a 31-over 319 Sunday in the second round at Rich Harvest Farms.
How it Happened: After play was cancelled on Saturday due to severe weather in the area throughout the day, and the stroke play portion of the tournament was shortened from 72 holes to 54, the Ducks improved on their first-round score by 14 strokes in the second of three rounds.
Northwestern leads the team race at 23 over, and Wake Forest's Jennifer Kupcho is the individual leader at even par.
Senior Cathleen Santoso carded the best round of the day for the Ducks, shooting a 5-over 77. The Sydney, Australia, native is also Oregon's overall leader through two rounds at 16 over. Santoso was 2 over on her final nine holes.
Kathleen Scavo shot an 8-over 80 and had the best front nine of the day for the Ducks at 2 over with a pair of birdies. The sophomore is 18 over on the Championships with one round of stroke play remaining.
Senior Marcella Pranovia and junior Kelsey Ulep fired matching 9-over 81s to complete the counting scores on the day for Oregon. Ulep finished her round strong, shooting 1 over across her final nine holes with a birdie on the par-5 No. 2 hole. Pranovia sits at 21 over for the weekend, with Ulep a stroke back at 22 over. Sophomore Petra Salko is tied with Ulep on the overall standings after rounding out the Oregon lineup on Sunday with a 10-over 82.

Up Next: The Ducks will wrap up the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championships on Monday in Sugar Grove with the final of three rounds. Oregon will tee off from 4:45 to 5:29 a.m. PT, and will be paired with Texas Tech and Pepperdine. At the completion of the round, the individual NCAA champion will be crowned and the top eight teams will advance to the match play quarterfinals on Tuesday.
