Amadi Earns Pac-12 Weekly Honor
10/01/18 | Football
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – After recording seven solo tackles and two interceptions in Oregon's win at California last Saturday, senior safety Ugochukwu Amadi has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week.
Amadi's first interception of the game came in the first quarter and he sealed the victory with his second pick-6 of the season in the fourth quarter for the final 42-24 outcome. The Nashville, Tenn. product is one of nine FBS players this season with two interceptions, including a pick-6 in the same game. His seven solo tackles were the most by an Oregon player this season.
Amadi is tied for the Pac-12 lead and ranks tied for second nationally with three interceptions, which runs his career total to eight. He's one of three FBS players – the only from a Power 5 program – with two interception returns for TDs. Amadi also has 24 tackles, including 2.0 for loss, and 1.5 sacks.
It marks the third straight season that the Ducks have had a player earn Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors. Earlier in the day, Amadi was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll.
