LOS ANGELES - The Oregon women's tennis team had another strong showing at the Women of Troy Fall Invitational, winning five matches on Saturday.Â
How It Happened: Day two of the tournament started out with a rain delay, but it did not seem to phase the Ducks.Â
After the rain stopped, UO opened with two strong doubles performances against Arizona.Â
Shweta Sangwan and Daniela Nasser defeated Csenge Furak and Camila Wesbrooks of UA, 6-4.Â
For Julia Eshet's doubles performance, she paired with LMU's Sofiya Gaisina. The duo dominated in their match, not giving up a game to Arizona's Talya Zandberg and Gitte Heynemans to win, 6-0.
The Ducks continued to find success in singles play later in the day.Â
In the first singles round, Nasser took down USC's Estella Jaeger in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. In her second match, Nasser had a commanding 6-3, 6-1 win over Karla Poralatin of Cal State Fullerton.Â
Eshet put up a fight in her first singles match of the day. The senior pulled out a three-set win over the Trojan's Sydney Van Alpheu, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5. Eshet then went on to defeat CSUF's Genevieve Zeidan in back-to-back sets, 6-3, 6-0.Â
Sangwan only played in one singles match today where she dropped a tough one to USC's Becca Weissman, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
Up Next: The third and final day of the Women of Troy Fall Invitational will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT where the Ducks will face LMU in doubles. Oregon will follow up doubles play with singles against Arizona and CSUF.Â
