Ducks Head to Stanford Intercollegiate
10/16/18 | Women's Golf
EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon women's golf team continues its fall schedule this weekend at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
STANFORD INTERCOLLEGIATE
The Stanford Intercollegiate starts Friday with a second round on Saturday and a third and final round on Sunday. The tournament will take place at the Stanford Golf Club. The Ducks have one more fall tournament after the Stanford Intercollegiate, with the Pac-12 Preview in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on Nov. 5-7.
TZE-HAN LIN
Freshman Tze-Han Lin has had a strong start to her collegiate career. The native of Taiwan leads the Ducks with a 70.6 average through five rounds and her 67 in the final round of the Schooner Classic is the lowest by any Duck this fall. She already has a pair of top-20 finishes, coming in 6th (72-71, -1) during stroke play at the East & West Match Play and then 19th (74-69-67, -3) at the Schooner Classic.
SCHOONER CLASSIC
The Ducks tied for seventh with a 6-under at Oklahoma's Schooner Fall Classic. Individually, both Petra Salko and Tze-Han Lin finished in the top-20. Salko tied for 14th with a 4-under 209 (71-68-70) while Lin tied for 19th with a 3-under 210 (74-69-67). Her 67 in the third and final round is the best round by a Duck this fall. Alabama won the event after shooting a NCAA-record 45-under par for a three-round tournament (807).
EAST & WEST MATCH PLAY
Oregon opened its fall schedule at the East and West on Sept. 16, winning the consolation bracket and finishing fifth. After 32-holes of stroke play, the Ducks were the No. 5 seed, playing in the second four-team bracket with Wisconsin, Michigan and Texas A&M. The Ducks dominated, beating the Badgers, 4 & 1, and rolling the host Wolverines, 4.5 & 0.5, over two match play rounds. In stroke play, freshman Tze-Han Lin shined, finishing sixth at 1-under (72, 71).
LAST SEASON
The Ducks qualified for NCAA regionals for the 11th straight season in 2018. No. 14 seed Oregon was tied for fourth after two rounds but a tough final round pushed the Ducks back to a 14th place finish. Kathleen Scavo finished a team-best 22nd.
HEAD COACH DEREK RADLEY
Oregon athletics director Rob Mullens announced Derek Radley as the Ducks' new women's golf head coach on June 13, 2018. Radley was the associate head coach at Arizona for the past six seasons, helping the Wildcats to the 2018 NCAA national championship. The Wildcats earned five top-10 NCAA finishes in Radley's six seasons with the squad, culminating with the 2018 national title. Radley won a Pac-12 title with Arizona in 2015. He coached seven All-Americans in his time in Tucson.
ASSISTANT COACH MONICA VAUGHN
Orego native Monica Vaughn is making her collegiate coaching debut for the Ducks in 2018-19. Vaughn won both the NCAA regional and national championship as a senior at ASU in 2017 before graduating magna cum laude. After winning the individual title, she helped the Sun Devils to a team title in 2017 as well. She was named the Pac-12 women's golfer of the year and a first team All-American. She was the Oregon high school champion in both 2011 and 2013 at Reedsport HS.
