Nasser, Sangwan Advance at ITA Northwest Regional

Daniela Nasser and Shweta Sangwan both went undefeated on the first day of the ITA Northwest Regional to advance to the round of 32
STANFORD, Calif. - Daniela Nasser and Shweta Sangwan went undefeated in their first two singles matches of the ITA Northwest Regional on Friday, slotting them into the round of 32.Â
How It Happened: Nasser and Sangwan both looked good through each of their matches on the first day of the regional.
Nasser kicked off the regional for the Ducks with a strong 6-4, 6-0 win over Eastern Washington's Louise Waite. The senior then went on to defeat Liesl Pieters of St. Mary's in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Sangwan downed her first opponent of the day, defeating Rylee Braden of Eastern Washington, 6-2, 6-0. Later that evening, Sangwan kept it rolling with a convincing 6-4, 6-0 win over Cal's Jasie Dunk.Â
In her first match of the day, Julia Eshet outlasted Susanne Boyden of Cal Poly, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. However, in her second match, the Junior couldn't hold on, falling to Maria Kozyreva, 7-6(4), 6-4.Â
Eshet and Sangwan are No. 2 doubles pair in the draw, which gave them a bye in the round of 64. The duo will take the court tomorrow in the round of 32.Â
Up Next: The round of 32 for both singles and doubles begins tomorrow at the ITA Northwest Regional. For singles, Nasser and Sangwan will take the court at 10:30 a.m. PT while Sangwan and Eshet compete in doubles beginning at 9:00 a.m. PT. Â
