Women of Oregon Race to 10th Conference Title
10/26/18 | Cross Country
STANFORD, Calif. – The Women of Oregon raised their 10th conference title in program history Friday morning with a first-place outing at the 2018 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships. The team was bolstered by four runners inside the top 10, including a runner-up result by senior Jessica Hull. On the men's side, the Ducks finished fourth behind a top-10 finish by sophomore Cooper Teare.
Oregon last won the Pac-12 title in 2014 with eight of their 10 conference crowns coming on Stanford's home course. In the team race, the fourth-ranked Ducks finished 16 points ahead of No. 1 Colorado, 32-48.
"When we rounded that turn, it played out a little like we thought it would," Hull said following the race. "Turning around at the line and seeing four or five Ducks coming straight away, I was thinking 'come on' and cheering Carmela on there at the end. It was awesome."
The Ducks occupied four of the top-10 spots with Hull followed by Weronika Pyzik in fourth, Susan Ejore in sixth and Carmela Cardama Baez in eighth. Oregon's top-five scoring lineup was rounded out by Isabelle Brauer who crossed in 12th place overall.
