Ducks in Missouri for NCAA Championships

The 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships air Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. PT on ESPNU.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Oregon cross country team will take on the nation's best Saturday morning at the 2025 NCAA Championships in Columbia, Mo. The women's 6K at the Gans Creek XC Course is set to start at 7:20 a.m. PT followed by the men's 10K at 8:10 a.m. The meet will be televised on ESPNU.

The Men and Women of Oregon are both ranked No. 6 in this week's release of the USTFCCCA poll, one of four programs—Oregon, BYU, New Mexico and Oklahoma State—with both teams inside the national top 10.

The Oregon men won their first regional title since 2014 and the UO women secured their national spot with a runner-up finish at the NCAA West Region Championships (Nov. 14) in Sacramento, Calif. The UO men were paced by Big Ten champion Abdel Laadjel who finished sixth overall and led a group of five all-region performers. On the women's side, Big Ten champ Diana Cherotich and Silan Ayyildiz finished 2-3 for the Ducks who collected four all-region honors.

Collectively, the Ducks return three All-Americans from last year's teams in Silan Ayyildiz (13th place in 2024) and Anika Thompson (32nd) for the women and Aiden Smith (29th) for the men. On the women's side, the Ducks' roster also features Juliet Cherubet who was a two-time cross country All-American at Texas Tech.
On the Biggest Stage
The Men and Women of Oregon have combined for 10 NCAA cross country team titles and the UO men have won eight individual titles with two three-time national champions in Steve Prefontaine (1970-71, '73) and Edward Cheserek (2013-15). The UO women have an individual high-place of second at NCAAs, a feat accomplished by Leann Warren in 1981.
