Ducks Collect Nine All-Pac-12 Accolades
10/30/18 | Cross Country
EUGENE, Ore. – On the strength of the Ducks' standout efforts at the 2018 Pac-12 Championships, the Oregon cross country team has collected nine all-conference accolades as announced Tuesday morning by the league office. In addition to Coach of the Year honors, the Ducks placed seven runners on the All-Pac-12 First and Second teams while Charlie Hunter was named the Pac-12 Men's Freshman of the Year.
"First, I'd like to acknowledge the work Coach Lehman-Winters is doing," head coach Robert Johnson said. "Technically, the Coach of the Year goes to the program's head coach but her fingerprints are all over this Pac-12 title and she deserves recognition for what she is doing with our team.
"This past weekend was a good start to the postseason and our athletes performed up to the challenge of a championship field. I'm incredibly proud of them and now we can look ahead to the regional meet."
2018 All-Pac-12 Honors

For the first time in program history, each runner in the Women of Oregon's top five garnered All-Pac-12 honors including a program-high three runners on the first team. The Ducks had four all-conference runners in 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2015. Oregon's conference win was the 10th team title for the women, and the 26th overall between the men's and women's programs.
Hull is now a two-time All-Pac-12 performer in cross country after earning a spot on the second team in 2017. Teare also picks up the second all-conference honor of his career behind his sixth-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships.
Hunter becomes the seventh member of the men's team to win Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, and eighth overall to earn the award as the league's top newcomer. He was the top-finishing freshman at the conference meet at 16th place. Hunter is the second-consecutive Duck to win Freshman of the Year with Teare's selection last season.
The second leg of the championship season is the NCAA West Regional Championships which will be contested Friday, Nov. 9, in Sacramento.
